Barry M. Portnoy Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards

    Immigrant Learning Center

    06:00 PM to 09:00 PM

Once a year, the Barry M. Portnoy Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards Benefit invites us to marvel at the ingenuity, bravery and grit of the immigrant entrepreneurs that call Massachusetts home. Founders of biotechs, insurance agencies, cyber security firms and neighborhood bakeries take their noses from the grindstone long enough to share their stories with each other and with business and community leaders who understand their importance to our shared economic success. Join us for a cocktail hour, dinner and the ceremony at 6 PM, October 29 at the Royal Sonesta Boston.

    Coat Boston Anniversary Celebration

    Coat Boston

    01:00 PM to 05:00 PM

This event will celebrate a decade of commitment to outfitting low-income Boston children and youth with brand new winter coats each year. Since first launched in 2009, this program has helped prepare nearly 18,000 kids in Boston for the winter season.

The event will be a kickoff for the 2019 Coat Boston program that will include an afternoon of celebration, live music, and fundraising at Bella Luna & The Milky Way in Jamaica Plain. Proceeds will allow these coats to continue to be provided to Boston children into the future. Our goal this year is 2,000 brand new coats, hats, and gloves.

The overarching goal of Coat Boston is to help children whose families have limited resources attend school regularly, arrive warm and ready to learn, to enjoy playing outside in cold weather, and to let them know that Boston cares about them.
