Why this matters

In honor of Black History Month, InCrowd is taking time to focus on racial health disparities. We are doing this by conducting research in therapy areas affected, discussing in small groups, as well as fundraising for Black Women’s Health Imperative.  Black women’s mortality rates are higher than White counterparts in the following therapy areas: Heart disease, Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Autoimmune, and Pulmonary disease; and BWHI’s goal is to create health equality across races.  InCrowd is conducting syndicated research specific to Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE): SLE disproportionately affects racial and ethnic minorities, who are also increased risk of developing severe manifestations following SLE diagnosis. Mortality is higher and death occurs at a younger age. Black Women’s Health Imperative is the first nonprofit organization created by Black women to help protect and advance the health and wellness of Black women and girls. Since inception, the organization has been at the forefront of women’s health issues, through comprehensive public education initiatives that promote overall wellness of Black women.
